Many parishes have children of catechetical age come forward each year seeking baptism. We want to best prepare them for the sacraments but are faced with challenges. The Church invites us to use the baptismal catechumenate as the model for all catechesis. Let us consider how we can pattern all children’s formation after the vision contained in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). This three-session series will explore how to adapt a traditional school-year religious education program to embody more of the rich vision for catechesis contained in the RCIA and how this approach enriches the spiritual development of both catechumens and baptized Catholic students.

Our Virtual Workshops are conducted on Adobe Connect, a web-based online meeting platform. Participants are asked to utilize a computer for these virtual workshops and to download the desktop application prior to their session. If you use a mobile device (phone or tablet), LTP’s tech team will be unable to assist you.

Registration for this workshop has closed. If you are interested in participating, please email events@ltp.org.

Using the rite itself, this book will help RCIA coordinators, catechists, and directors of religious education prepare children and their families to celebrate the rites of the Church and the sacraments of initiation. You will find: parish-tested models and sample sessions; appendixes on how to prepare and lead child catechesis, and how to celebrate the liturgical rites; answers to frequently asked questions, and a glossary of terms.
